Viewpoints
The trail’s beauty truly peaks after a heavy rainfall, when the lake at the start of the route fills to the brim, creating a mirror-like reflection of the surrounding forest. As you begin the hike, you’ll traverse a high mountain ridge with a stream rushing through the valley below, creating a scenery so vast and atmospheric that a photograph can hardly capture its scale.

The scenery shifts as you reach the route’s highest point, offering a breathtaking 360-degree panoramic view of the entire region. From there, the path dives into a narrow, shaded forest trail that eventually leads to a peaceful picnic area in Agios Theodoros. If the weather has been wet the previous days, your journey ends perfectly with the soothing sound of the running river accompanying your well-earned break.

Starting points
Located in Nikitari village, the trail is conveniently near Panagia tis Asinou and the Forviotissa tavern. While the official trailhead begins just a few hundred meters away, visitors typically leave their vehicles at the first available open space, as dedicated parking at the start is limited. You can find the exact coordinates and route details clearly displayed on the nature trail information table located further below.
Personal comments
I really loved this hike because it never gets repetitive. The constant flow of new and different views kept me excited for what was around every corner. From the lake to valley streams and from valley streams to the 360-degree peak views. It’s one of those trails that stays interesting the entire way through. Just a quick reminder: try to go after a heavy rainfall. Seeing the lake and streams at full capacity truly transforms the landscape into something magical.
