Description
Perched just above Limassol, the Kyparissia nature trail offers a revitalizing escape for those craving fresh air and panoramic horizons. Starting near the Germasogeia Dam, the path winds upward toward the summit of Moutti tis Kyparissias, rewarding hikers with a unique dual perspective: the serene, mirrored waters of the dam and the sweeping, unobstructed views of the Limassol coastline.
This ~11 km linear trail is considered challenging due to its continuous ascent with total elevation gain 685 meters, reaching an altitude of 692 meters. While the route is officially linear, experienced hikers can utilize an alternate return route, which includes a brief stretch on a paved road to complete a partial loop.

Viewpoints

The ~5.5 km steady ascent provides a dramatic vantage point that unfolds as you climb. Because the terrain is open and exposed, your line of sight remains unobstructed, offering constant, evolving views of the Germasogeia Dam and the dense greenery of the surrounding forest. As you reach the higher viewpoints, the horizon opens up to reveal a stunning panorama: the entire Limassol coastline, the vast salt lake and the port of Limassol, all set in a striking contrast between the rugged mountains and the deep blue Mediterranean.

Starting points
The trailhead is at the Germasogia dam with enough parking for multiple cars. The exact trail GPS location can be found in the nature trail information table.
Personal comments
First of all it is very important to say that the trail is exposed to the sun. Even though it has beautiful vegetation it is limited mostly to bushes and small trees. Therefore it is strongly recommended to visit the trail in winter and especially on a cloudy day. A light rain will make the hike even more entertaining!
The climb is profoundly rewarding. Once you reach the peak of Moutti tis Kyparissias, the scenery is nothing short of breathtaking. On a crisp, clear day (free from dust) the landscape pops with the vibrant emerald greens of the forest, set against the tranquil blue of the dam. From this high altitude, the distant expanse of Limassol meeting the sea creates a panoramic masterpiece that truly makes every step of the ascent worth it.
Note that the trail is also used from mountain bike enthusiasts so always be on alert!
