by Savvas Michail

Description

The Chrysovrysi natural trail is a hidden gem waiting to be discovered! Located along the Karvounas–Troodos road just 300 meters from the Chrysovrysi Spring, this linear path follows a 1.5-kilometer downhill route that plunges into the heart of the vast Troodos National Forest Park. As a remarkably immersive experience, the trail offers hikers the sensation of stepping into the very soul of the forest while passing the forest with the tall pine trees and also the endemic golden oak.

The trail is linear with distance 1.5 km one way and total distance 3 km out-and-back. The difficulty degree is moderate. This path, which typically takes about an hour to complete, serves as a perfect escape for those looking to connect with the protected natural beauty of a Natura 2000 area.

Viewpoints

The trail is truly amazing, offering two distinct and breathtaking viewpoints. The first provides a panoramic view of the vast Troodos National Forest Park, allowing hikers to appreciate the expansive landscape from a distance. The second, equally impressive “viewpoint,” is the experience of being immersed within the forest itself. This core section of the trail features a noticeably denser and wilder environment with abundant pine trees and lush vegetation, which creates a uniquely profound and wonderful natural experience.

Starting points

The trailhead is located on the road Karvounas – Troodos, 7 km before Troodos square. The exact GPS location is found in the trail information table below. Both of the ends of the trail can be accessed by car, however the parking is limited to a few cars. Therefore you have several options on how to do the hike, either one way by having two cars on both ends and choose your preference downhill or uphill, or just pick a point and do the roundtrip. Both locations are described in the table below.

Personal comments

The trail is a short yet incredibly beautiful journey, ideal for various types of visitors. Its short length makes it perfect for a quick, post-lunch escape or a gentle introduction to hiking for beginners. More seasoned hikers can easily extend their adventure by combining it with other notable trails in the vicinity, such as the Persephone trail, Atalante or Artemis Natural Trail. Regardless of how you choose to experience it, the trail is absolutely worth the visit.
